I’m sitting here listening to the sounds of Burlap To Cashmere (Jive/Essential records), and I must say that I’m amazed at what my ears hear. Burlap to Cashmere (Jive/Essential records) isn’t necessarily my usual musical genre but I can honestly say that my musical taste has expanded with the release of their latest self titled album. This album is filled with the sounds banjos strumming and snare drums keeping a beat similar to that of a Johnny Cash. I did not expect to like this album; yet it’s sound is perfect for calming the soul or tossing it in your car stereo when your headed out on a road trip. The mix of which this self titled record posses is almost perfect, and the album keeps a steady flow.
The Stand out songs for me are: Don’t forget to write, Love reclaims the atmosphere and Hey man. While the lyrics are very surface level and radio friendly, this album has already gained praise from big names such as AP-Associated Press and The Boston Globe.
My eyes and ears are open to the members of Burlap To Cashmere (Jive/Essential records). I am already looking forward to next record although I am hoping for a deeper lyrical approach on the next release.
